FAQ
Software quote check
Evaluating software quotes
How do I know whether a software quote is fairly priced?
Compare it against market ranges for the project type and size, check what is included (testing, project management, documentation, warranty) and look at the day-rate maths behind the total. Our check uses reference values from more than 250 delivered projects.
Is the cheapest quote the best choice?
Rarely. Quotes far below market range usually omit testing, documentation or realistic effort – the gap returns later as change requests. A fair quote states assumptions, scope boundaries and a maintenance path.
Which red flags should I look for in a quote?
No breakdown by work package, no statement on testing and warranty, vague scope wording ("as discussed"), missing maintenance offer, and totals that do not match plausible day rates times effort.

Market ranges
What are typical price ranges for software projects?
Corporate websites: EUR 5,000–40,000. Web apps and custom software: EUR 25,000–250,000. Mobile apps: EUR 30,000–150,000. ERP integrations: EUR 20,000–120,000. AI projects: EUR 15,000–150,000 – always depending on scope and integration depth.
Should maintenance be part of the quote?
Yes. A quote without a maintenance and support statement hides 15–20% of yearly follow-up costs. Ask for it explicitly before signing – retrofitting support terms is always more expensive.
Typical pricing models (overview)
| Model | When it fits | Budget & flexibility | Typical risks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed price (fixed scope) | Clearly defined scope, stable requirements, repeatable delivery. | Predictable total cost; little room for change without a change order. | Scope creep leads to change orders or quality trade-offs. |
| Time & Material | Discovery, legacy, evolving requirements, or close collaboration. | Maximum flexibility; budget transparent via hourly or daily rates. | Without prioritisation, effort can grow—backlog and reviews matter. |
| Retainer / maintenance package | Ongoing operations, updates, small features, and support. | Agreed capacity per month; predictable follow-on cost. | Large changes may still need a separate estimate. |
| Hybrid (milestone + T&M) | MVP or phased releases with clear go-lives, then iterate. | Core delivery fixed price; extensions on a time-and-materials basis. | Define contractually what is in scope vs. extra work. |
