CRV Repromanager app – heat detection, sensors & insemination workflows
For CRV we implemented the Repromanager app for iOS and Android: sensors send herd data via web services to the app so farmers can interpret heat signals and trigger insemination orders—with clear UX on phones and tablets. Developed Made in Germany in Leer (East Frisia).

Agriculture
The Challenge
Reproduction in the barn: timing and little time per animal
In dairy farming, reproduction drives margin and cost: heat must be detected reliably and inseminations scheduled on time—often with many animals and limited minutes per cow. Paper lists, disconnected tools, and later office entry increase errors and delay.
The client wanted a mobile solution that works at the animal: sensors capture activity and signals, the app must present them clearly and enable next steps—without deep navigation when the milking robot or group routine is already waiting.
Data from the barn: interfaces instead of silos
Sensors and backends produce continuous data; the app must render it consistently even when mobile coverage in the barn is weak. Instead of blocking every request, users need clear states: current, syncing, failed—with actionable messages.
CRV operates international platforms; our scope was native mobile clients with stable web-service integration and a UI built for long farm days: large controls, daylight readability, and meaningful use on both tablet and smartphone.
Our Solution

Mobile app: overview, signals, orders
We delivered native clients for iOS and Android that consume the customer’s web services. Core views cover animals and sensor-driven signals, followed by guided actions—such as ordering insemination in a few steps aligned with the domain.
The UI separates everyday tasks from expert settings: farmers see what matters for the current round first; deeper information remains available without cluttering the entry path.
Integration, robustness, and on-farm quality
Integration uses REST interfaces; server or network errors are surfaced so users know whether to retry or wait for data refresh. Before releases we tested key journeys on common phones and tablets—including rotation on barn tablets.
Delivery was executed by Groenewold IT Solutions in Leer (East Frisia): close alignment with the client, short clarification loops, and respect for agricultural reality—Made in Germany with a focus on dependable software rather than demo polish.
Results
Digital reproduction workflows in daily operations
With the Repromanager app, farms can steer heat indicators and follow-up steps from one place—instead of shuffling data between paper, desktop, and service partners. That reduces friction in daily work and supports consistent documentation around insemination and follow-up.
Reference for farm apps with sensors and backends
This project exemplifies B2B agriculture apps for us: complex domain logic, near-real-time data, and users who cannot afford unnecessary taps. For similar needs—barn IoT, service orders, mobile frontends to existing platforms—architecture and delivery here provide a credible reference.
Domain depth and engineering
Why mobile endpoints for reproduction
Insemination decisions often happen between parlor and pen; an app brings interpretation to the animals. That cuts media breaks and speeds reaction to heat signals—a direct lever for farm economics.
Responsibility for herd data
Herd and animal data are sensitive. The architecture keeps flows traceable and aligned with the client’s policies—without overwhelming the UI with technical fine print.
Working with CRV
CRV is an international breeding and services group; our role was reliable mobile client delivery integrated into the existing service landscape. The outcome is a reference for projects where hardware, backend, and mobile UX must align—built in East Frisia with the standards of a specialized software partner.
