Blockchain solutions – DApps and smart contracts

Blockchain consulting and smart contract development

You receive a documented suitability decision, a fitting trust and operating model and, where the assessment is positive, a scoped pilot with security and integration plans.

For mid-sized companies: verification and ops first—not every problem needs a chain – delivery and project ownership from Germany (Leer/East Frisia), named contacts, no offshore guesswork.

Blockchain for SMEs

Blockchain advisory—from use case to roadmap

Blockchain consulting and blockchain solutions deliver value where multiple parties must share records without one central administrator—for traceability, proofs or rules enforced in code. Leadership cares about running costs, speed, key management and regulation—not slogans. Without that clarity, pilots become fragile side projects.

When smart contracts and DApps make sense

Once the business case is solid, smart contract development and decentralised apps follow when logic must run on-chain or users must interact with the network directly. Roadmaps align business language with chain realities.

Made in Germany, serving SMEs nationwide

Smart contracts, DApps and supply-chain traceability

Smart contracts

Solidity development, reviews and audits.

  • Solidity & testing
  • Security audits

Decentralized applications

DApps, wallets and oracle bridges.

  • Web3 integration
  • Wallet & custody patterns

Supply chain tracking

Tamper-evident logs across partners.

  • Traceability
  • Compliance-oriented design

Demonstrator: approvals across several companies

This is explicitly a demonstrator, not a client reference: three companies confirm handovers in a supply chain. A smart contract accepts only signed status changes from authorised roles. Documents and personal data remain off-chain; the ledger stores technical references and evidence.

We first compare the same workflow with a centrally operated database. The extra complexity is justified only when no accepted central operator exists and the parties need a jointly controlled history. We document that decision through our software architecture consulting.

Smart contracts in operation: review, keys and controlled change

Risk-based review

Threat modelling, automated tests, static analysis and code review address defined risks. For high-value flows, an independent specialist audit is a separate work package, not a security guarantee.

Key ownership and recovery

The operating model identifies who may deploy, approve and recover access. Multi-signature or hardware-backed storage can reduce risk, while documented emergency procedures define responsibility.

Interfaces and upgrades

Monitoring covers contract events and integration failures. Upgrade paths, migrations and rollback options are agreed before launch and connected through enterprise API integration.

FAQ: blockchain solutions, smart contract development & DApps

Decisions for mid-sized teams

What does blockchain consulting include at Groenewold IT?

Blockchain consulting starts with use-case validation, data ownership and regulation — not chain selection.

We document whether a distributed ledger beats a database economically, define a pilot with KPIs and deliver a roadmap toward smart contracts or DApps. You get decision-ready material for leadership and IT, including budget and risk framing.

When is blockchain consulting better than classic IT consulting?

Blockchain consulting fits when several partners need shared facts, proofs must be tamper-evident or contract logic should run automatically — and no central party convinces everyone.

Classic IT consulting is enough when one organisation controls the data. We say honestly when a relational database is cheaper and only then plan chain components.

What happens in the first blockchain consulting call?

We clarify use case, stakeholders, latency, compliance and existing systems.

You receive an initial view on feasibility, rough effort and a sensible pilot — with no obligation to build. From there we can structure proof-of-concept, smart contract development or integration work.

Does every mid-sized company need blockchain?

No.

Blockchain pays off where several parties need shared facts without trusting one middleman, or where proof and immutability matter commercially. Without those conditions, a standard database is cheaper to run and maintain.

In blockchain consulting we clarify data ownership, performance and regulation first—only then do we decide whether smart contracts or decentralised apps make business sense.

What does smart contract development cover day to day?

Smart contract development starts with clear business rules and edge cases.

We define: who may call which function, what happens on failure, and how upgrades work. Then comes coding in Solidity or Rust, automated testing, and—where the risk justifies it—external audits. We plan deployment including gas budgets, key storage and monitoring.

For ERP and CRM links we use oracles and APIs so the smart contract becomes an ongoing system component—not a one-off script.

When are decentralized applications more than a buzzword?

Decentralised apps (DApps) matter when users must interact with the chain directly—for proofs, approvals or token-based access—while keeping the frontend separate from on-chain logic.

Wallet strategy, UX and support then decide adoption. Without solid key handling and recovery, pilots fail. We connect DApps with existing identity and CRM processes so they work for real operations teams.

How does blockchain consulting differ from classic IT consulting?

Blockchain consulting turns business needs into network constraints: finality, gas costs, governance and compliance rules.

We document architecture choices clearly—for boards and IT leaders—and specify whether we target Ethereum L2s or a private ledger. Deliverables are roadmaps with pilot budgets, risks and concrete outputs—not generic disruption slides.

How do blockchain solutions and Smart Contract Development relate to regulation?

MiCAR, anti-money-laundering, tax, privacy or sector rules may apply depending on the design, parties and jurisdiction.

A token or NFT label does not create a blanket exemption. We structure technical data flows and controls but do not provide legal advice. Specialist legal and tax review should therefore start early and remain separate from engineering.

How are smart contracts reviewed for security?

No process can guarantee absolute security.

Depending on risk, we combine a threat model, code review, unit, integration and invariant tests, plus static analysis. Before production use involving significant assets, an independent specialist review should be considered.

Audits, upgrade paths, key management and incident procedures reduce risk but do not replace ongoing controls.

Blockchain & Distributed Ledger: compact service description

Definition: Blockchain & Distributed Ledger gehört zum Leistungsbereich „Software & platforms: choose the right delivery route“.

Software & platforms at Groenewold IT covers bespoke software, web and mobile apps, CMS, e-commerce and ERP platforms – from concept to production, Made in Germany from East Frisia.

When it applies: Relevant when you launch new digital products, replace outdated UIs or need shops and core systems (e.g. Odoo, DATEV) connected cleanly – without mixing everything on one page.

Audience: Mid-market companies and business teams that expect predictable releases, maintainable code and clear ownership between consulting and delivery.

Outcome: Deliverables are production-ready applications or platforms with documented architecture, handover and measurable milestones. Three to six months is a planning scenario for an agreed scope; integrations, migration and approvals can extend it.

Approach: Kickoff and scope, architecture or MVP plan, iterative sprints with review, test and release, handover with documentation – remote or hybrid from Germany.

Prerequisites and limits: Prerequisites and limits: decision-ready requirements, reachable business owners and access to existing systems. Limits: pure integration, BI or AI strategy without delivery belongs in linked related services—not on this main page.

Differentiation: Pure integration work belongs in Integration & interfaces, standalone AI use cases in AI & ML, and budget models in Financing & funding. This page (Blockchain & Distributed Ledger) is the main service page – the overview lists all related services.

Approach in steps

  1. Use-case check: does blockchain pay off?: We honestly check with you whether your case really needs blockchain (e.g. multi-party trust, traceability, tokenization) or whether a classic database is enough. We only recommend blockchain when it brings real value.
  2. Platform choice and architecture: We pick with you the right technology (public chain, private chain like Hyperledger, or tokenization on Ethereum/Polygon) and design architecture and wallets that fit your business.
  3. Pilot with real partners: We develop a pilot with selected business partners, document smart contracts, and set up tests and security audits. That avoids the risk of bugs later destroying real value.
  4. Handover and sustainable operations: We hand over smart contracts, operations tooling, and training and plan update and governance strategies with you. So the blockchain solution stays maintainable long-term.
