ERP introduction: The key project phases and milestones for the middle class

A ERP launch at mid-level is a strategic project that sets the course for the future competitiveness of a company.

A modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) system integrates all business processes and data into a central platform, leading to more efficiency, transparency and better decision-making.

But the way there is complex and requires careful planning and control.

A structured approach, divided into clear project phases with defined milestones, is the decisive factor for success.

Without a red thread, such a project can quickly run out of the rudder, which leads to exploding costs, delayed schedules and frustration among employees.

The phases of ERP introduction at a glance

In principle, two approaches can be distinguished in the introduction of an ERP system: the classic and the agile method.

While the classical method follows a linear sequence, the agile method uses iterative cycles and a step-by-step implementation.

For the middle class, a method based on the classic model has often proved to be flexible.

Regardless of the chosen method, the following core phases can be identified, which are essential for a successful ERP introduction middle class.

| Project phase | Description | Important milestones | | :--- | :-- | :-- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1.

Preparation & Planning | Definition of project objectives, compilation of the project team and creation of a detailed project plan. | Different project plan, defined budget | | 2.

Analysis & Selection | Detailed analysis of business processes, compilation of the specifications and selection of the appropriate ERP system and partner. | Signed contract with ERP provider | | 3.

Implementation & Customizing | Technical installation, customization of the system to specific enterprise requirements (Customizing) and data migration. | Successful completion of data migration, running test system | | 4.

Test, Training & Go-Live | Intensive testing of the system by key users, training of end users and final commissioning (Go-Live). | Successful integration test, completed user training | | 5.

Support & Optimization | Running support after real start, troubleshooting and continuous optimization of the system and processes. | Etablated support process, regular system reviews |

Phase 1: Preparation and Planning

At the beginning of each successful ERP introduction is a solid preparation and planning phase. The strategic objectives of the project are defined here: what should be achieved with the new system? Is it about cost reduction, process optimization, better customer service or the development of new business areas? A clear
